Intranets and Extranets
An intranet is a web application that is not accessible on the public Internet. Alternatively, an intranet can be understood as a private version of the Internet, or as a private extension of the Internet confined to an organisation.
An extranet can be understood as a password protected intranet mapped onto the public Internet.
While intranets are generally restricted to employees of one organization, extranets may also be accessed by customers, suppliers, or other approved parties. Extranets extend a private network onto the Internet with special provisions for access, authorisation, and authentication, such as a Members Area within a website.
Pagelocker is PSE's own CMS software which is the power behind our intranet and extranet solutions. Using Pagelocker, PSE develop intranet web applications which enable staff to organise and search information in many different formats and provide corporate applications such as timesheet entry within web pages. Organising company policies, documents and essential information within an intranet greatly increases staff productivity.
A Pagelocker extranet offers all of the above but within a password-protected section of a public website. The Pagelocker system allows you to secure any section of the site, change the content, add new pages and integrate with the central database.
An intranet or extranet application from PSE enables your business to harness all the information and resources that would otherwise be hidden away. It opens up whole new levels of communication and efficient sharing of information between staff and/or customers, helping your business reach its maximum potential in an online world.
Any of the Pagelocker modules can be integrated into your intranet or extranet as well as any bespoke functionality you might need.
