Summary:
Sharpstream is a specialist recruitment consultancy dealing with executive
selection for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
Sharpstream were using Microsoft Sharepoint for their Intranet system but
needed to improve their access to their library of documents.
PSE's PageLocker system was chosen to provide a new Intranet solution with an
integrated e-Library.
The brief
The initial requirements was for an electronic library to store and search
Sharpstream's collection of documents which were stored in a variety of
locations.
Access to the documents was to be controlled using privileges and each staff
member ws to be allocated access to the sections of the e-Library with view or
edit access.
META data was to be associated with the documents and integrated with the
search system, providing hierarchical searching by category.
A later addition to the brief was that flexibility was required to add new menu
options to the Intranet with some of the sections secured for particular levels
of access.
How we answered it
PSE built a .Net web application linked to PageLocker which provided the
security and content management facilities. The system provides the following
features:
- Logon system linked to a central user table
- Structured e-Library with security applied to each branch
- File upload facility for authorised users at any branch level
- Sophisticated search system returning targetted results based on document
title, contents and META data, automatically filtered according to the users' access
level
- Full content management allowing web pages to be added and moved, based on
pre-designed templates
- Audit trail and access logging
- The ability to drop mini applications into any web page in the form of .Net
controls
- Database editing of underlying information such as category lists
